Kia To Launch Electric SUV at 2012


Kia Motors Corp.., The second largest automotive company in South Korea, plans to produce 2000 units of the latest electric cars in 2012. According to the Kia electric vehicle development director, John Hong-hee, the Kia electric car will be using the latest compact SUV base, where this new product will be demonstrated in South Korea in December 2011.

Hyundai Motor Co.. which is an affiliate of Kia, also has plans to build 500 units of electric car, the Hyundai BlueOn based on the i10 minicar began in 2010. “We plan to produce 2000 units of an electric car based on the latest products cross utility vehicle Kia, and 500 BlueOn in 2012,” said Hong.

Hyundai itself has said it will lease the BlueOn for government agencies in South Korea began in 2012. While for bulk sales will be conducted starting in 2013.

Currently Hyundai is pursuing competing production electric car that carried his opponents from Japan and the United States. Like Toyota, Nissan and General Motors, Hyundai believes that the needs of the world in environmentally friendly low-priced cars already on the threshold.
