Hyundai ix-Metro concept car

Hyundai ix-Metro hybrid concept car to debut at Frankfurt Auto Show!

Hyundai Motor Company has today announced that it will take the wraps of its latest concept car, called ix-Metro, during the forthcoming Frankfurt Auto Show. According to the company, the ix-Metro crossover is already the fifth in a series of concept cars created by Korean designers and engineers working at Hyundai’s Namyang R&D centre, located in Korea.

Hyundai ix-Metro concept car is a small crossover concept car that belongs to the European sub-B segment. It is smaller in size than Hyundai’s popular i20 hatchback, but larger than i10 mini car. Though not confirmed, it is widely believed that ix-Metro concept car gives us the very first sneak peak preview at an upcoming eco-friendly production Hyundai car that will hit the roads within the next two years to rival European sub-B segment contenders.

Under the hood, the ix-Metro concept car features a technically advanced gasoline-electric hybrid system, which is based on a turbo-charged 1.0L gasoline engine. Hyundai’s newly developed three-cylinder powerplant is equipped with dual CVVT and gasoline direct injection technology and generates 125 horsepower ( impressive amount of power for its size).

Coupled with a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, the ix-Metro emits only 80 grams of CO2 per kilometer! This fuel-sipping engine will appear in a facelifted i10 city car (non-hybrid) early next year.

The ix-Metro concept car will be displayed at a special Blue Drive Zone at the Frankfurt Auto Show where Hyundai will exhibit a wide number of latest eco-friendly cars. Put on display alongside the all-new ix-Metro concept car will be Hyundai i30 Blue, Hyundai i10 zero emission electric car, Elantra LPI hybrid and Blue Will plug-in hybrid electric concept vehicle.
